Danish video producer and composer moves to Los Olivos, CA.
and wins international award.

Bent Myggen is a one man band and movie-studio. As writer, cameraman, sound- mand, editor, and producer for VisionEars.com - he also composes the score and records all the music himself. Over the past years he has produced roughly a hundred and fifty documentaries and videos ranging from trekking in Nepal to underwater birthing. His latest documentary, The Medicine of Compassion - produced for Adventures in Caring in Santa Barbara, and funded by the Wood Claesons Foundation - just won a Freddie - the annual International Medical Media Award. Bent, who just moved his studio (VisionEars.com) to Los Olivos from Montecito attended the celebrations in New York this November after getting his tux out of mothballs. "I didn't know it was such a big deal", says he, "but I got to walk up and thank the academy together with my client and co-producer Simon Fox". The award will help bring attention to the diocumentary and could result in some very positive changes in the health field.

Mr. Myggen started out in Denmark as singer/songwriter, has several albums and CDs out in Europe and came to USA in hope of a musical career. After some success in Hollywood (over 300 titles published and released in 30 countries and a Burt Reynolds movie theme song), he started a video production company. "Music became my secret weapon", he says "because most video producers come from a visual background. While our eyes tell us what is real, our ears tell us how to feel, and most of the videos I have produced have had to do with communicating feelings - and that's where music can really sneak up on you."

Before going to New York for the awards, where the late Christopher Reeves - who was scheduled as the guest of honor recieved a special "Lifetime Achievement Award" posthumously - Bent finished converting to DVD a 6 part historical documentary series on the families of Solvang for Elverhoj Museum. Bent produced this series last year with June Christensen and it is now for sale in stores in Solvang and the Elverhoj Museum.

While secretly having hoped for an Emmy or Oscar for the music alone, this Dane is thrilled to be recognized for anything, and happy to be living in the Santa Ynez Valley.
