Waterpump Song W/M: Bent Myggen, BMI © 1995
One day I got down to the cellar of the house
There was a waterpump
standing in the corner in the dark
It was a little rusty, was a little old,
But the lady (who) sold the house said
it would work real fine
Just needed a little fixing here and there
And there she was in the dark
Just giving me the eye.
(kind’of looking at me)
Well I got out the tools and I started to work
I loosened up the bolts and I got it all apart
I scraped off the rust and I oiled everything
Got the wheels all running
and I felt like I did fine thing
Yessir I felt proud
Just poking along
Singing a waterpump song:.
(Chorus)
Well, it was cold that day and it started to rain
And fixing up the pump was really a pain
A friend had stopped by to give me hand
And late night we finally got the old gal running
She was running fine
Just pumping up sweet water
Till the well ran dry.
So next day I got down to the bottom of the well
There was a hole in the ground
and from what I could tell
There was supposed to be hole
about fourty feet deep
Running straight into an underground creek
I couldn’t find no hole
Couldn’t find a living bleeding thing
Looking for a hole in the water
Couldn’t find anything.
I worked with the thing till I thought I would die
The pump wouldn’t pump or the well went dry
For everything I fixed something else came up
When the frost cracked the pump I just gave up
Gave up fixing pumps and pipes
Now I’m fetching my water in a bucket
It gives me a much easier time.
(Chorus)

Family

Sooner or later
It will flow
it’s gonna flow like a river
or trickle slow
Sooner or later
you will know
weather you fly with the river
or just go
Sooner or later
you will find
Sooner of later
you will find.
(Now) you got a neighbor
you got a friend
you got a family
to the end
Sooner or later
this will be
You’ gonna find you tomorrow
here with me
Sooner or later
you will find
that your haunted, hungry eyes
are no longer blind
Sooner or later
sooner by me
we’re gonna cast these meaningless chains
and just be

Walking Man W/M: Bent Myggen, BMI © 2007
They come walking every day
They sign on and move away
They come talking up a storm
They talk to me about moving on
But I ain’t running no more
I’m walking
I ain’t running no more
I’m a walking man
I see the farmer till the soil
I see the teacher school my boy
I count the soldiers up and down
Stalk the shadows all around.
But I ain’t running no more...
I count the flowers on the hillside
I watch the swallows fly
I see cruelty and kindness
In the meatball on my plate
I can hear the angels singing
Amidst the battle cries
Like a sister and a brother
One can’t live without the other
So they say.
But I ain’t running no more
From this night and day
I got my own ticket and I’m gonna stay
For as long as I can
I’m a walking man.
(Intermezzo)
To read the newsprint you’d need a drink
The price for TV is you can’t think
They call attention and talk so loud
That the dam has broke and we can’t get out.
But I ain’t running no more
I’m walking
I ain’t running no more
I’m a walking man
[Alternate]
I can walk along the river
While the jets fly overhead
And they strike with keen perfection
Both the living and the dead
I can hear the angels singing
Amidst the battle cries
Like a sister and a brother
One can’t live without the other
So they say.
But I ain’t running no more
From this Shakespere play
I got my own ticket and I’m gonna stay
For as long as I can
I’m a walking man.

Whoa Now
w/m Bent Myggen © 2001 - BMI
Whoa now
Your in my field
Hold on
Are you for real
Wait up
And tell me if you can.
Say what
You come here for
Come in
And close the door
If you’re my baby, baby I’m your man.
Hot damn
You’re in my seat
Good lord you move my feet
I got rhythm and I do the best I can
Bye bye to midnight blues
Blue skies are all the news
If you’re my baby, baby I’m your man.
Get down
I’m sliding like a seagull
High across the California sky
Watch out this love could be illegal
The way you make my woes and worries fly.
And this Jimmie’s gonna shimmie
Down the chimney on a Christmas night
I’ll be higher than a firefly
on the fourth of July
Two hearts hoppin’ like an easter bunny
I’ll be the bee if you be the honey.
If you’re my baby, baby I’m your man.
(intermezzo)
Get down
I’m sliding like a seagull
High across the California sky
Watch out this love could be illegal
The way you make my woes and worries fly.
And this Jimmie’s gonna shimmie
Down the chimney on a Christmas night
I’ll be higher than a firefly
on the fourth of July
Two hearts singing like a Shakespere sonnet
I’ll be the bee if you be the bonnet
If you’re my baby, baby I’m your man.

Way if you’re Willin’
w/m Bent Myggen © 2003 - BMI
Sometimes I hear what you say to me
And I can’t believe what I hear
Life is a number of days to me
when you whispered love in my ear
There’s a way if you’re willing
But you ain’t willing anymore
Is the end the beginning
And we need to close the door
Sometimes I wonder what came over me
When I said ‘till death do us part
Your tears will shed no more for me
And there is a stone in your heart.
There’s a way if we’re willin
But we ain’t willin anyore
Is the end the beginning
and we need to cut the cord?
I’ll be working on my masterplan
You’ll be pouring the tea
They won’t know who the hell I am
But that won’t bother me...
Sometimes I think that your love for me
Must be a deep and dark river
You more than leave your mark on me
You’re the sting of reason delivered
But you don’t own me
And I don’t own you.
We see the light, and touch the flame
It may be lonely
where you go to now,
But that’s a part of the game
I’ll keep working on my masterplan
You’ll still be pouring the tea
You’ll have lunch with the alian
Into eternity.
And there’s a way if we’re willing
Ain’t we’ willing anymore?
Is the end the beginning
but we need to find the door.?

Still Alive
W/M: Tom Mitchell, ASCAP & Bent Myggen,BMI
I could be out picking daisies and get hit by a train
Struck by lightning, walking in the rain
Run off a mountain while out taking a drive
So get me, get me, get me while I’m still alive
I could wake up with an incurable disease
Choke on a chicken-bone, or slip on the grease
The swimming pool could empty
in the middle of my dive
So get me, get me, get me while I’m still alive.
||: Still alive
Get me while I’m still alive. :||
I smoke like a chimney and I drink like a fish
I’ll knock down anything that falls in my dish
Don’t want to hear about untimely demise
Just get me, get me, get me while I’m still alive.
||: Still alive
Get me while I’m still alive. :||
It’s getting harder to sell the business
Dogs and ponies are in high demand
Trouble getting it with the misses
But he’s a man and he can use a hand
I can hardly wait to feel the fever
Get the blood into my veins again
I’ll be posing as healer-feeler
Healer-feeler with your love in flames
I could be out for the evening,
take some second-hand smoke
Or God forbid, I take another toke
Don’t want to know, just want to feel before I die
So get me, get me, get me while I’m still alive.
||: Still alive
Get me while I’m still alive. :||

Moovin Grooving. w/m Bent Myggen © 2001 - BMI
I was coming out of Boston on a Saturday night
And she was standing at the county line
She looked sweeter than a kitten
in the soft moonlight
And there was more than music on my mind
And so I took her for some conversation
Some late night inspiration
My fingers did the walking
and she stopped me cold
And this is what the young girl told:
You’ve been movin you been grooving
and you carry on
But can you finish what you just begun?
There is more to being friendly
than to wag your tail
So if you want, you got to take it all.
Sometimes you’re damned if you swim
Sometimes you’re damned if you drown
But I was working on a compromise
She said, just drop me off at any two-horse town
And I will show you how I got so wise.
She sait, It’s easy to get recreation
Some one-night standing ovation
But ask them to present you to the mom and dad
And bet that itsn’t where it’s at.
Cause they’ll be movin…
Well, this was years ago
When I was sweet and low
And there we plenty dancers on the floor
(but) why go looking for a shack
when you got city hall,
and you got more than you could bargin for
So if you look for a sweet sensation
Some late-night contemplation
Some cure for the cold
Before you grow old
I’ll pitch it to you once again:
You’ve been moovin…

Shine the light
w/m Bent Myggen © 1993 - BMI
We get so high, we fall so low
for every time we soar the sky
I’m waiting for the blow
I don’t know what’s better
I don’t know what’s worse
Seems that love as grand as ours
is both a blessing and a curse.
So we talk till we die
and we hurt till we cry
Give me peace
Shine the light on me
Shine the light on me
Shine the light on me.
You say I’m fine
You say I’m good
You say I’m king of the hill,
Duke of the neighborhood
But when something goes wrong
and we loose the touch
You run a thousand miles away
cause it hurts so much
And we talk till we die...
I can’t go south for the winter
Can’t go north for a job
I’m like a bear with a splinter
Honey come fix my paw
Oh I can’t talk to nobody
Cause my best friend is you
Honey we’re fools
We’re both fools.
You’re taking me down
Till I stand with a bleeding heart
and my wings on the ground
We oughta do better
we oughta do now
We oughta stay and work it out
till we don’t know how
||: No more talk till we die
no more hurt till we cry :||
Give me peace
Shine the light on me please
Shine the light on me please
Shine the light on me.

Don’t go there
w/m: B. Myggen 5/18/2007 - BMI
Just let me get through the next minute
Just let me get to the next breath
Don’t let me think of the way we were.
Don’t let me see anyone kissing
Don’t let me spot your car and
Don’t let me think where you’re going to.
I’m going crazy
Don’t have my faculties
Can eat, can’t sleep.
Must stop these feet
from running back to you.
Give me a spaceship with me in it
Show me a world where you don’t feel
And) nobody heard of a thing called love
Everything here reminds me
Every memory finds me
Taking me back to what went off.
I’m going crazy
Don’t have my faculties
Can’t eat, can’t sleep
Must stop these feet
from running back to you.
Don’t go there
Don’t go there
Don’t call that number
Don’t go there
Don’t know where
Love went down.
Don’t go there
Don’t think of
You(/her) in someone else’s arms
Don’t go there
Don’t know where
Love went down.
(intermezzo)
I’m going crazy…

Hold me
w/m: B Myggen - 1982 - BMI
It doesn’t matter what you say to me
So tell the stars above
Tell the fishes in the deep blue sea
All I hear is love
It doesn’t matter what you wanna do
Or where you wanna go
No matter what you’re going through
I never really know.
Taking, taking hesitating
Who is here and who is waiting
Talking, talking, keep on walking
Where do we go from here?
It doesn’t matter what you say or do
Don’t make a difference
It’s only matter that we’re going through
And who we are is friends.
We say:
Mmm, come hold me
We say:
Uh, come hold
You go:
Mm, come hold me for a while
There is a billion lonely people here
Who say they need a friend
Will half a billion meet the other half
And get us to the end?
Taking, taking…
There is a trick I understand you do
I hear you do it well
I have a temporary plan for you
And you can never tell
We say:
Mmm, come hold me…

Rivers
w/m: B Myggen - © 2004 - BMI
There’s a river going through me
There’s a leaf up on the wave
Every rise you’re coming to me
Every fall, you go away.
And as we fly to the sea
You be spinning with me
I’m amazed at the grace of it all.
There are clouds
On the horizon
They don’t mean that much to me
I can’t get any wiser
Than to set this spirit free
And if we fly or we fall
And I’m hearing you call
I’m amazed at the grace of it all.
Silent
Witness
Clouds above the battlefield of life
And the notes of my guitar
Fall like rain upon the plain.
(Intermezzo)
I am not further
Not higher
Not fuller not wiser
than thou.
I have not
More than
This moment
This chance
Here alone with you now.
Truly, truly
I am blessed
Truly, truly
I have been blessed
I’m a river coming to you
You’re a leaf up in the wind
Will you fall into my whirlpool.
Or will you land on ground again?
As we fly to the sea
And you’re still here with me,
I’m amazed at the grace
I’m amazed at the grace
I’m amazed at the grace of it all.
